Your on vacation and you get a rental car and the rental car company wants to charge some outrageous price for coverage. If you already have car insurance is this necessary? The answer is yes and no. Most car insurance policies provide coverage for a temporary substitute auto. Be careful though as you need comprehensive and collision coverage in your car for this coverage to follow.

It will be subject to your deductible so be careful

One thing that car insurance will not cover is loss of use. If you are in an accident and the car is a few weeks out of service you may get a big bill for the time the car is out of service.

Also be careful of the coverage offered by credit cards as it may not be adequate and could be full of exclusions.

To help you understand the rental car coverage on your insurance policy take a look at the following video.
