Shoping tips for the Holiday Season

Avoid the Tricks, Shop for Treats This Halloween

TrickorTreatCandy corn, pumpkin pie, brisk air, and costumes can only mean one thing – Halloween! Just as children go door to door looking for the best candy, don’t we as consumers do the same thing when shopping? Of course, we want to find the best deal with the best possible service, but what might we be missing?

Have no fear, here are three common Halloween nightmares consumers may want to look out for:

  • Sugar overload. Parents can probably understand this nightmare; it’s the moment they realize their child has eaten all of their candy in one night! But what does it mean as a consumer? Retail stores, auto dealers and even cable companies can poison you with a sweet deal. Don’t be afraid to question something that seems too good to be true. Be sure to look into these situations a little deeper and don’t get caught with a bellyache from a bad deal.
  • Afraid of the dark. Are you looking into financing a big purchase such as a house or a car? Shed some light on those dark areas that might be haunting you. Not everyone is a finance guru, so be sure you understand the lingo used and the terms outlined in the agreement, especially before signing any paperwork. Ask a trusted friend in the business or do your own research to find out what type of financing may be best for you.

Maybe by now you’re confident in your decision and you’re ready to make your big purchase. So what final Halloween horror could be left?

  • Monsters around the corner. We have no idea what may be coming around the corner on the 31st, or any day for that matter, but we can try to be prepared. Whatever your purchase may be, verify the steps that need to be taken to protect it. Check for product warranties and call your local insurance agent to see what coverages your new exposure may need. After all, who knows if there are any monsters lurking around the corner.

Best of luck with your new purchase! Just don’t forget to look for the “treats” and avoid the “tricks” when shopping around.  Have a safe and happy Halloween!
